privacy policy

Dua Lock is a personal wellness app that helps you take a brief pause for dua (supplication) when you reach for distracting apps. This policy explains how we handle your information.

What we don't do

We do not collect personally identifiable information. We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing. We do not maintain user accounts or store data on our servers.

What stays on your device

The following is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad only, in the app's private storage:

  • The apps and categories you choose to lock (managed via Apple's Screen Time framework).
  • Your scheduled dua times.
  • Your dua and dhikr streak counts.
  • Your onboarding answers (first name, commitment level).
  • Display preferences.
  • Counted dhikr for the day.

This data never leaves your device unless you actively use a feature that requires network access (see below).

Third-party services we use

We integrate the following services and send them only the minimum information required:

  • Google Gemini API (primary). When you use the find the appropriate names of Allah helper inside the dua flow, the situation you type is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate suggestions. The request is anonymous (no user identifier is attached). We do not log or store these requests on our end. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
  • xAI Grok API (silent fallback). If Google Gemini is unreachable or returns an error, the same anonymous request is automatically retried via xAI's Grok API so the helper keeps working. The same situation text is sent, with no user identifier. We do not log or store these requests on our end. See xAI's privacy policy at x.ai/legal/privacy-policy.
  • Apple Screen Time / Family Controls. The app uses Apple's frameworks to lock and unlock applications. Apple does not share the specific apps you lock with us; the framework handles your selection privately on-device.
  • Apple In-App Purchase. If you subscribe, Apple handles the transaction. We receive only the subscription status. We do not receive your payment details.

Notifications

Dua Lock sends local notifications at your scheduled dua times and when you tap the send me a notification button on the lock screen. These notifications are generated on your device. We do not send push notifications from a server.

Your choices

You can:

  • Disable notifications: iOS Settings → Notifications → Dua Lock.
  • Disable Screen Time access: iOS Settings → Screen Time → Apps with Screen Time Access.
  • Delete all locally stored data by deleting the app.
  • Stop sending requests to third-party AI by not using the helper features.

Children

Dua Lock is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, the Last updated date at the top will change. Material changes will be surfaced inside the app on next launch so you can review them.
